Seminole Heights in Tampa has consistently generated some of the top food joints the city has to offer. Numerous locations pop up and only some stay around long enough to be dubbed worthy of this exclusive neighborhood. Florida Eats is no exception to the rule. Arriving to the scene back in April, co-founders Ed Fernandez and Greg Spadaccini have made quite the impression on the area.
The concept is simple and operated out of what used to be the original location of Chop Chop Shop. The menu of Florida Eats screams comfort food and once you look closely, you see the ingredients are of great quality too. The menu employs the model of K.I.S.S. (“Keep It Simple Stupid,” for those of you who don’t know) and centers around wraps, bowls and salads.
You walk into Florida Eats and you make the assembly line. You are given the choice of wrap, bowl or salad. Once that choice is made, the fun starts. The base options are white rice, brown rice, quinoa, sweet potato noodles, and mixed greens. The protein options consist of grilled chicken, steak, or shrimp, as well as pulled pork and marinated tofu. The topping options are where things begin to get a bit wild. It would be easier to name what they don’t have. It ranges from edamame and feta cheese, to cowboy caviar, which is essentially a salad mixed with all kinds of options in one. Lastly, you find yourself getting lost in any of the sauce options available: Sriracha Honey Mustard, Chipotle Ranch, Sesame Thai Chili, Mojo Madness, Basil Chimichurri, and Creamy AF Balsamic. With a line-up of choices like this, there isn’t a better way to build-your-own in Seminole Heights.
For those who are awful with decision making, the Florida Eats crew has a few signature options patrons can choose from and try to get a sense of what to enjoy. Their are shareable menu items as well which consist of tempura buffalo cauliflower and sweet potato fries that help round everything out. What allows this fast-casual eatery to shine is the flavors of the combination choices they have available. The build-your-own idea is in full effect here and the options are just the right amount to make for a truly delicious bowl.
